Make sure you run as admin and use credentials with admin rights on the remote machine. The only downside to this method is that you cant see the command execute or the results if there was a error. And if you have PowerShell remoting enabled, that is another option.
Remote Command Prompt How To Do ItI recently had to do this (actually figured out how to do it with Invoke-WmiMethod, because Im stubborn and wanted it to be a PowerShell solution), and in this environment, PSExec is disabled by security policy, and PS Remoting has never been enabled.PSExec computer cmd c chkdsk.exe Skys the limit. Also, dont forget that you shouldnt even try defragging SSDs. Why would you ever want to make this 10 times more complicated then it is Use the Admin share and take care of what you need in the background. If you wanted to run check disk Id probably do it at the client, especially if this was on the boot drive as it usually requires a reboot, but its also not something Ive needed much, if at all. I use it all the time to find out if anyone is logged on to a lab PC. If I get No one is logged on locally, I know I can RDP to the PC and do whatever. Sysinternals (a collection of tools from Microsoft) has a crapton of great utilities. It includes a simple Remote Command Prompt tool which allows you to open a command prompt As System or using specified credentials to any remote machine.
